Thoughts and prayers

Well I have delayed a day or so in posting this, only to let my emotions settle some and to see what facts would surface over the day. For anyone who might have missed it, there was a terrible tragedy at Virginia Tech yesterday. A gunman slaughtered 32 people before taking his own life in what can only be described as a heinous act. I have written about one other college related shooting previously on my old blog. While the magnitude of this tragedy is unbelievably larger, the idea is the same. Something goes off in someone's head and they decide to perpetrate the unthinkable. I feel helpless in a way. I know there is nothing anyone can do to change the events of yesterday, but wish there was. I wish there was a way to reach out to the Blacksburg, VA community to show them that the nation is with them in their time of grief. I have been keeping up on the news through many avenues including television, web news sources, and even facebook. It amazes me some of the putrid crap that has spewed forth from people's keyboards in order to receive attention for themselves or for their 'soapbox' causes. I want people everywhere to understand, the time is not right to push your own agenda or just act like a complete asshat. Right now is a time for mourning, grieving, and support of the families, friends, children, classmates, and colleagues left behind. I hope that the funerals of those lost will be respected by the media and especially the Westboro Church and Mr. Phelps will understand that (as with all of his protests) this is very inhumane and should not happen. I am sick to death thinking about all those people whose lives are forever altered by one person, a person so cowardly he took his own life versus being brought to justice. I know the Blacksburg tragedy will be a moment, much like Oklahoma City, the first WTC attack, Columbine,9/11, Challenger, and Columbia wherein people will always remember where they were and what they were doing when they heard about this mass murder. If there is one thing EVERYONE must take from these tragedies it is this, live life to its fullest and cherish everyday for there is no longer a truly safe place from people who are deranged. God bless all, in Blacksburg and around the world.

....The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Been a little while since I posted on this last and I figured, what the hell, it's time. I have spent many a passing minute thinking about our second amendment rights as Americans. For the life of me I cannot figure out why people are so afraid of firearms. Sure they have the capability to be used in a manner that can cause bodily harm or even death, but so can baseball bats. Riddle me this one, if we trust juiced up athletes, some with very little use of the English language due to school failures (I'll pick that bone later in the article), to properly use these "pine bringers of death" then why can't people understand that with the proper training and frame of mind people are capable of carrying and owning firearms. People really don't understand that (and many have said this) CRIMINALS DON'T CARE. They will always find the means necessary to achieve their goals regardless of laws being broken. This is why House Bil 1022 (Sweet sweet irony) is nutso. I thought Clinton was (is) a whack job about guns (he is, but whatever) but this lunatic from NY thinks she needs to double the number of weapons explicitly named in the bill. Someone explain to me how the Mini-14 RANCH RIFLE (Which ironically is used primarily on ranches for varmints etc.) should be banned?????? WHERE IN THE SECOND AMENDMENT DOES IT SAY "KEEP AND BEAR ARMS, UNLESS THEY LOOK SCARY TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVES"?????????????????? I will adress this more over time, but thats a little nugget of thought for ya'll

Schools - I will keep this short since I know that I do not have the answer to this one. Our schools (and even more importantly PARENTS) are failing miserably today. I don't believe I grew up a tremendously over privlidged child except in one regard. My parents are TOP NOTCH. They scultped two amazing children (who by my own admission aren't always perfect, but no one is so bite me) who can contribute (and will) much to society through their actions. When I was at a local gun show today, there were two children (maybe about 12 years old) talking (if it can be called that) to one of the dealers. One of them proceeded to TELL the proprietor that a revolver on his table HAD TO BE A FO-FO (ebonics for .44 magnum for the less inclined). When the owner told him that in fact was a .38 the child proceeded to argue with him that NO it was a FO-FO. I WAS FLOORED. That same child later interrupted a conversation between two adults discussing a purchase!!!!!! I would blame the parents on the complete lack of courtesy, but I will blame the parents, the school, and the siblings of this child for not forcing him to learn ENGLISH. The supression of our native language is not just coming from the migration of the Spanish language folks, it is also coming from pure blooded Americans who blatently abuse the language everyday. THIS IS NOT NEW. We have allowed ebonics to become a recognized language! This must stop. Now DO NOT misconstrue my words. I don't want everyone to speak like they grew up in the midwest (even though maybe I should since all U.S. newscasters are forced to HAHAHA) I acutally enjoy hearing a southern belle speak and occasionally hearing an "eh" from a Minnesota native. I believe it adds a little attraction to conversation and also can give you somewhat of an idea about the situation a person may have been exposed to in their youth. I just ask that differentiations make sense without a translator. That is all........

5 Years later

I realized something today driving back to my house. 9/11/01 was a day that united a divided country against a common enemy, specifically fear and terrorism. Now, five years to the day, we sit divided. The Democrats want the Bush administration out. The Republicans want the Democrats to shut up. The Libertarians, well, I'm not sure, but my guess is they want something. People seem to forget ( and I don't mean that they can't recollect their whereabouts, or the date, or even what happened) about 9/11. The feelings all of the survivors (that means everyone that did not perish in the attacks) had that day were probably some of the strongest any of us will ever feel. The fear, the anger, the hurt, the disgust, the sorrow, and the worries all seem to have passed by the memory of many. The song by Toby Keith "Angry American" soon became a resounding feeling of many Americans. Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" came into a whole new light. PEOPLE FINALLY HAD REMEMBERED WHAT IT MEANT TO BE AN AMERICAN. It is sad to say, in five short years, we as a whole are headed straight back down the path to another attack. If there is one (of many) truth I have learned in my short time on this earth it is this. If one (nation, person, group, etc.) is trying to demonstrate to others that it is RIGHT and JUST and encourage the support and following of others, the quickest ways to dillute the message and encourage dissenters is through a lack of unity. It is unfortunate, but the same Bill of Rights that allows me to post on this page, also allows smart mouthed (fat ass ::cough:: ::cough::) unpatriotic, shitbag, hollywoodians (and washingtonites) to dissent on an international stage (::cough:: ::cough:: Hanoi Jane you piece of shit). If we cannot align behind a common shield, we will all be vulenerable. It was once said, "We must all hang together, or surely we will hang seperately". I find not time in history that this is more applicable than right now. With that I will sign off for the evening.

NEVER FORGET 9/11/2001

AMERICAN AIRLINES FLIGHT 11 (WTC)
UNITED AIRLINES FLIGHT 175 (WTC)
AMERICAN AIRLINES FLIGHT 77 (PENTAGON)
UNITED AIRLINES FLIGHT 93 (SHANKSVILLE, PA)

3,000 AMERICANS KILLED IN ONE HORRIBLE ATTACK

To the victims, rest in peace, you will never be forgotten by true Americans
To their families, stay strong, it will never be easy, but we must never shake in the face of danger.
To the heroes (lost and still around) Thank you. This nation owes you such a debt of grattitude.

And lastly but surely not least, To the VERY under recognized men and women from flight 93. Thank you. Your amazing acts of courage while staring death and a frightening and insane enemy in the face saved many many other innocent lives. Many unknowingly owe their lives to your bravery and again we cannot thank you enough.

Some people call me Maurice..... WAAAAA WOOOOOOOO

And so the saga continues. For those not paying attention, Mr. Maurice Clarett was arrested (AGAIN) this week in Columbus, OH. Check this out. FOUR LOADED WEAPONS AND A HATCHET. It was also reported he was in the "vicinity" of a person who would be testifying against him in the New Years Day robbery trial that is coming up. I don't get it. What the hell happened to this kid? He had the world at his fingertips. He got greedier than a bulemic at an all you can eat buffet, and his life has hit the shitter again and again since then..... When he got drafted by Denver, he had a second chance.... and blew it...... Supposedly he is into a "west-coast rap mogul" for money fronted to him based on his notion that a big contract was coming from the broncs. If it ain't Suge Knight, then I STILL don't understand the loaded AK! Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you a case of wasted potential. Use this opportunity to show your kids what NOT to do.

By the way, I must ask, what happened to the day when professional athletes kept a low profile and stayed mostly clear of trouble? There have been 5 Cincinnati Bengals arrested since June (including one player with 4-5 arrests himself!). I just don't get it! This is proof positive that kids their ages (most rookies are my age ±1 year) generally have no clue of right or wrong and how to develop and exploit potential. Probably bc they've been put on pedestals for the last 8+ years of their lives..........

P.S. Screw stupidity, to all out there, get your fucking heads on straight and use them for more than a hat rack or something to keep your ears off your shoulders.

And for you ma'am I must stand and applaud

For me, this is somewhat of a feel good story. Thanks to fox news the link is here. For the lazy (or simply silly) the story is of an Oklahoma woman whose son was killed serving his country in Iraq. There apparently is a gentleman selling t-shirts online that say "Bush lied" on the front, with "They died" on the back and a list of soldiers names who had been killed. This woman felt that it was his right to his opinion and such BUT for him to be making a profit off of her son's likeness or name was not right. Instead of doing absolutely silly things like building a camp outside of the president's ranch (ahem.....) she did the intelligent thing and went to her state legislator (as well as state reps) so that they may introduce legislation to stop/ prevent future occurences of this. To this woman I must applaud your ability to keep and use a level head in dealing with the situation. I also must say, I am sorry for your loss. Your son was a young man with a tough and noble calling. There are still some of us in this country that appreciate his service and hope that it is never forgotten that he gave his life, so that others may live better ones..........

I would love to end the post there, but once again I must revisit one of my more popular topics. HOLY SHIT. When I posted last week the rumored number of homocides that Cincinnati was on pace for was around 85. Due to the "happenings" of last week, that number has jumped 10 to 95!!!!! To quote the article, "The city is on pace to break modern day records with 95 homicides by the year's end." If that doesn't scare the BEEEEEEJEZUS outta ya, I don't know what will. Another reason I chose to post on this is because I spoke to a gentleman while working last night who raised an interesting point. During the riots all of 6 years ago, some of the first places looted were pawn shops. The rumor is that there were something like 900 firearms "obtained" during the riots. The other rumor is that on the short order of less that 200 have been seized by police during their encounters. Considering it has been 5.5 years since those riots, I find that number slightly unnerving. Especially with the fact that the city seems to average 70+ murders a year...... That means there are still something like 700 firearms that could potentially be in the hands of people that the ATF would not legally allow to obtain. Ahhhhhhh screw it what do I know........ All I know is there is somewhat of a genocide going on in this city. Its getting ugly, its getting out of control, and we are headed for another riot here in the next few years. I wish I could make people understand that human life is priceless, but I don't think it will get across. God forbid that I am right, but what I see happening (possibly?) is that the cops are going to get fed up with homocides (the coroner has already publicly expressed his displeasure) and are going to end up face to face with one of these criminals and have to make a choice. It will be kill or be killed. The question is which way they will go. If they kill the criminal I could see it touching off another city-wide riot. If they choose not to kill, they will probably (and tragically) be killed. And that will fly under 50+% of the city's radar and that is terrible. As I said before, I truly hope I am wrong about that, but if things do not change, that is a path that is completely feasible....... Until next time folks.

This just in......

To quote dad..... "Jayzus Keerist in a purple and teal Humvee"

Listing is making this easier......
MY HUMBLE OPINION

1) TOTAL CRAP
2) By showing preferential treatment of a particular group, the gov is in fact creating discrimination (this time in their favor) and more hatred and bigotry towards them
3) Despite the fact I wouldn't have worn the shirt (personal beliefs don't always have to be held in the public eye) That kid had every right to attend classes as usual that day. Fuck that school (as well as the college that tried (read succeeded and reversed) throwing the student out for the celebrate diversity shirt
4)If a white kid in an all black school wore a bigitous shirt to school, he would get his ass kicked and it would be his right to get it kicked and to press charges later (as long as he wasn't instigating it beyond the shirt)
5) I hate John Kerry
6) The 9th circuit seems to suck at their collective job (or so it would appear to the casual observer 12 out of 15 thrown out by the supreme court??????? thats not even good enough to make league minimum in MLB)
7)I really hope this kid wins his case cause it is all totally BS
8) with all the "kid diddling" going on in today's society, what is a school doing with a homosexual ass. principal (chuckles to self)
9)If one were in that position (again chuckling to self; people in office looking at me funny) as an asst. prin. why would you ever let anyone know what you did outside of the HIGHSCHOOL?????
10) I hate John Kerry
11) If they come after guns, at least I'll be protected b/c weapons are used on so many white catholic males during the commision of crimes.....

Now seriously, cut it out you're making me angry......

Cincinnati is on pace for 85+ murders this year. There have been 5 "shooting related deaths" (will later be declared homocides by the coroner just haven't yet) in 36 Hrs. I don't really even want to discuss this. Its disgusting........

With equal or worse nauseating effect is this. I am astounded, angry, aggitated, agrivated, appalled, and abhorred (I love online Thesaurus') by this. All alliteration aside people, NO ONE should stand for this. I'll give the guy a speedy trial, guilty like O.J. then put him down and hard. I'm talking public lynching (in TX just for fun) to show people like Cyndi Sheehan that acts against members of our armed forces or their families (physical or otherwise) WILL NOT go unpunished. I'm not talking judged at the pearly gates, I'm talking get a firing line together. Its lunch and I think that I just lost my appetite................

I'll never understand................

This is where I live!

I would like to say that link says it all, but not even close. I don't understand the human condition of judge, jury, executioner. Despite the fact that I live in this CESPOOL of crime and disgusting behavior, I was surprised again once by Cincinnati and once by up Nawth'. The surprise in Cincinnati is here and the surprise from up Nawth' is here. In the Cinci article, first the unfortunate deceased should have been smarter that to run after the robber (ESPECIALLY after shots were fired) but that point aside, I wonder if the money the guy took was worth a human life. Unless it is some sort of magic money I've never heard of, it wasn't. Right about now, you can reference my last post about gun rights. Due to OH law, the gentleman who was mindlessly slain (if he had a permit to carry concealed) would have been bound by law to lock the firearm in his vehicle. If he had a firearm on him, he at least would've had a chance to defend the three persons who were robbed (and would have legally been able to defend himself after shots were fired) and we might be singing a song about how criminals better beware........

As for the other link, my condolences to the Conti family (David was the brother of one of my father's friends). It is utterly unbelievable that while being a gentleman and escorting a woman he had just met to her car, that he would be slain by her ex-boyfriend..... I think the second most sickening realization in this case, is that the woman had a temporary restraining order against the ex, yet admitted to police she had gone to see him earlier that day. Personally with the brutality of this attack (he was beaten to death without any weapons involved) I will not hold back when I say that I hope the perp is killed either for punishment, or shanked by someone in jail. It is an unfortunate situation when an upstanding, responsible, FATHER is murdered in cold blood by some gangbanging, dopehead, shitbag. With a rapsheet that is a bit long this guy should never have had a chance to commit another crime. Now a 15 year old child will have to grow up without a father......... Rest in peace David. I hope that justice prevails.............
