What in the wide world of sports?
Sooooooooooooooooooo....... I apologize to my dedicated readership about the delay between posts but work has been kind of hectic and such. Today's topic is violence. Now for those who are too lazy to refernce the side bar for info about me, I currently reside in Cincinnati, OH. I live in a city where EVERY YEAR they make a run at beating the record for murders in a year in the city. It also never fails that by the afternoon of Jan. 1 there is always something on the news about one or multiple dead bodies. Things are not good here and unfortunately because of the uppity liberal society we live in currently, the police dept.'s hands are tied. They must walk a very fine line and risk their lives or possibly be sued, reprimanded, and starting a citywide riot. This is evident by the realization that within 2 weeks there were three officers shot. Thankfully none of them were killed but one of those officers was shot in the face AND the only reason she wasn't shot again was because the shooter's gun jammed. This weekend there were THREE SHOOTINGS Saturday night including two right in front of the University of Cincinnati's campus on a FOUR LANE ROAD and one at a local bar named Sudsy Malone's. The unsettling thing about all this is that there was no apparent connection between the two people who were shot on Clifton Ave and the shooting at Sudsy's was during my friend's concert there (apparently it was a big fight, then there was shots fired). People wonder why law abiding Americans want the right to bear arms and the right to carry a concealed weapon. I present these two incidents as perfect examples of how the criminals don't give a shit about the law (both carrying a weapon into an establishment with a liquor license and driving with a loaded weapon in the passenger compartment are quite illegal) but instead our STUPID gun control laws are tying the hands of law abiding people and preventing them from the ability to protect themselves. Obviously I understand that there needs to be some kinds of gun control laws in place, because even your average person has an occasional lapse of judgement and accidents do happen, but I do believe that there needs to be more intelligent thought put into them. I know, intelligence and politicians ironic huh!
